Winter Breiteben

How to get there

In Lana take the turning to Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley and continue driving uphill along a winding road. Having driven through the first village San Pancazio/Sankt Pankraz and some tunnels you pass the first of two artificial lakes. Pass through the next village, named Santa Valburga/Sankt Walburg. About 1 kilometre further on you reach the second artificial lake. After this lake you have two possibilities to get to the ski area:

By chairlift

Before you reach the end of the lake, a street turns off to the right and takes you to the valley station of the Breiteben chairlift. Drive along the road until you reach a big car park. Then the chairlift, which has seating for 2 people, takes you to the ski area. In the immediate vicinity of the chairlift exit you will find our Breiteben restaurant, which has both, self-service and bar facilities, where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, real Italian coffee or some refreshments before you jump onto your skis.

By cable car

Drive on to the end of the lake. After the village Pracupola/Kuppelwies, you can see a huge car park on your right and the cable car that goes straight ahead to the Schwemmalm ski area. Savour the panoramic view of the Dolomites and the Stelvio/Stilfserjoch National Park. At the exit, once you have strapped on your skis, you can start your run down the vast expanse of white slopes.

The cable car runs until 5pm. To get there on time you should take the chairlift at 4.15pm at the latest. If instead you want to make the most of the time, and after your day’s skiing you want to dine in our restaurant or drink an aperitif in the Bockstodl après-ski bar, the free shuttle bus at 5pm takes you from the Breiteben valley station to the car park of the cable car in Pracupola/Kuppelwies.

To start your day’s skiing in the most relaxed way, you can come to Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley with the regular bus service. At every SAD bus stop going to Val d’Ultimo/Ultental it is possible to get onto the bus.  Drinking a carefree schnapps at the après-ski bar is a must.
